As an inept american, I am not not well versed in "Australian Culture". I do know that many people of adventurous spirit had to persevere against harsh conditions, and that is absolutely something to be proud of. I don't however see our adoption of Octoberfest, Cinco de Mayo, or St. Patricks day? as diluting our culture. Rather another day to have fun. Australia has little culture anyway. There are very few good shows and films anyway. Beside American stuff and traditions? tend to sound alot better than England's (No Offense) but I don't like their shows except quizzes and little Britain and Might Boosh. Plus what else can you replace Halloween with... a day where we hug rabbits or stuff like that. Australia has little culture because of it not being just one nation. Its made of many countries, so don't bother talking about our culture.

Well halloween is balancing on par/equal of liking as christmas. Why do people do christmas which isn't even Australian but don't do halloween which start with a celtic background. Maybe Australians are becoming scaredy cats and losed ther courage in the? unknown void of spookiest. don't compare Halloween with that of valentine or whatever small day celebration. i want a day to celebrate horror things not just once a year christmas. Don't make Australia boring for us multicultural Australians.

Who fucking cares what country its from there seems to be an American Australian rivalry here. I think more Australians should enjoy it and not be grumpy fucks people are just trying to have fun. Hi Graham, I actually don't mind giving out treats to the T'O'T-ers, as long as they are polite, and don't push or shove, or snatch 'n' grab. If someone turned up at my door? and demanded that I give them stuff, I'd be telling them "No". I find the younger children are generally the best mannered ones.

Should have an unofficial rule that any house decorated for Halloween is participating for Trick or Treat. Just so the Kids know where to knock without being disapointed. It is both a? fun and dangerous time of the year. We don't take part but we do stock some goodies for that day just in case. This year we got 1 knock :) so we gave them lollies. They were really happy too.
