I used velcro straps for the ankles - and the wire was bent around the wood handles.? Have fun :-)

Oh? yeah and I forgot to ask, Is it sewed on to her little suit anywhere? And at the ankles how is it attached? and the little handles.. sorry for so many questions.

That is soo awesome. I was actually telling her we could use bias tape around the? outside of it. So I pretty much understand what you did.. the only part that Im still not totally sure about is the wire part. But hopefully we can make it work! Thanks for replying back though! :))

After cutting out the shape of the bat on the fabric, I sewed on some fabric binding or "bias tape" all around the perimeter - and also sewed individual strips of binding down the inside of the wing? to represent the long finger bones. The whole wing radiates from the hand - just like a real one.

My friend and I are trying tomake this before the 28th for a school program about animals and her son has to do one on bats and yours was perfect and the best one we found to represent a real bat!! But we are just having a bit of trouble with it. On the inside? of the wings you had black lines goin down to each out groove.. what were those did your sew stitches down it or is that just sharpie?

There is a 24", wire coat hanger inside a sewn pocket along the top of each wing. I attached one end of the straightened coat hanger to small pieces of wood as handles and rounded the other end of the wire so it wouldn't poke through the outer? tip of the wing. The "sturdy" appearance is only the tension in the fabric cause by the bent wire hanger. The key is to attach the bottom of the wing to the ankles - to stretch it just like a real bat. We reviewed the actual anatomy before making it.
